The Meet Passport: Tanya’s Trip to London

3+ minutes

Based in San Francisco, Tanya Kochan is one of our Senior Division Managers. She joined the company back in 2020 – and after accumulating four years of tenure she was gifted an all-paid-for weekly trip to any Meet office.

This gift – known as the Meet Passport – is an offering all our employees receive on their four-year work anniversary. As well as covering flights, accommodation and meal allowances, one working day is substituted for PTO to encourage more sightseeing and touristic activities

Recently, Tanya chose to spend a week at our London HQ. Below we’re wrapped up her experience and favorite moments!

Why did you choose to visit London?

Out of all our office locations, we were curious as to why Tanya chose London. In her words: “London’s the one city I hadn’t been to... and it’s always been a city I’ve wanted to visit. Plus, it’s cool to see our Headquarters and where the company first started.”

She also mentioned her excitement in travelling across the Atlantic and seeing how people do things across the pond in terms of their culture and perspectives on things.

What have you enjoyed working in the London office?

Tanya enjoyed working in the London office mostly because it was a chance to chat with people she wouldn't normally. As well as putting faces to names, she was able to have good conversations about existing opportunities between the US and Europe.

“I feel like it was a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other and witness a new kind of energy.”

She also mentioned learning more about the European market and how it differed from the US market she’s more familiar with.

How did you spend your day off?

After spending Monday to Thursday in the office, Tanya got to spend Friday doing whatever she felt like with an extra day of PTO.

In the daytime she explored some of London’s iconic landmarks and architecture, namely Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and Borough Market (which understandably can be overwhelming, even on a weekday!).

In the evening Tanya saw The Lion King at the west end, commenting that tickets in London were significantly cheaper than those in New York or San Francico.

If she had more time, Tanya mentioned that she would have visited Notting Hill and Portobello Road to see the little shops and admire the gorgeous architecture (here’s to next time!)

What were your thoughts on British cuisine?

To get a taste of some of the UK’s most quintessential food, Tanya tried sausage rolls from Greggs and Gail’s. She also loved the outdoor food markets you find scattered across the city – which is not something she’s ever stumbled across in the US (or at least, not in San Fracisco).

Would you recommend London as a Meet Passport destination to others?

Tanya said she would absolutely recommend the London HQ as a Meet Passport destination! Though, with her trip sadly aligning with tube strikes, she’d suggest visiting when the whole city is up and running.

“The people are great and very welcoming. I felt like I could talk to everyone. I’d definitely recommend.”

Stay tuned for the next installment of our Talent Spotlight series. We’ll be interviewing people from all across the company and we're looking forward to sharing their exciting stories and journeys!
