Meet Passport: Glenn & Caleb’s Trips to San Diego

Based in London, Glenn, a Senior Director in our Sales Enablement team, and Caleb, a Contract Management Partner, recently took advantage of their Meet Passport - both heading to San Diego in May and spending a week working from one of our US offices.

The Meet Passport is offered to all employees on their four-year work anniversary. As well as covering flights, accommodation and meal allowances, one working day is swapped for PTO - encouraging people to explore a new city while connecting with colleagues globally.

Below, we’ve wrapped up Glenn and Caleb’s experiences and favourite moments in San Diego.

Why did you choose to visit San Diego?

For Glenn, San Diego was one of the few offices he hadn’t yet visited:

“I’d already been very lucky in my job to go to other offices, but not that one… I’d heard really good things, and it felt like a great opportunity to connect with the team.”

Caleb was also drawn to the idea of something different:

“I chose it because I thought it would be the most different to London… San Diego just felt a bit more unique.”

Both were motivated by the opportunity to experience a new environment and connect with colleagues in person.

What did you enjoy most about working in the San Diego office?

A key highlight for both was the ability to build stronger relationships face-to-face.

Glenn reflected on how impactful this was:

“You get to know the person behind the name - you break down assumptions and understand how people actually work.”

Similarly, Caleb spoke about the value of being physically present:

“It’s easier to build real relationships when you’re there in person… you can connect names to faces and actually see the vibe.”

Caleb also experienced a standout moment while on the trip through a collaboration with Alun, a Division Manager in our Contract team based in San Diego. While working together in person, they were able to quickly identify an opportunity and act on it:

“While I was there, I spoke with Alun, and there happened to be a job that came up in an area I knew well, so I could send over some candidates. That was nice.”

This collaboration highlights how the Meet Passport isn’t just about experience, but it can also create meaningful opportunities to work together across offices and drive immediate business impact.

What were some of the highlights of your trip?

For Glenn, the highlights came through team connection and shared experiences:

“We had a global sales day… people motivating each other - it was such a great atmosphere.”
“Happy hour afterward was great for getting to know people outside of work.”

Caleb also found the social element to be a standout:

“It’s not just about working somewhere else; it’s about building relationships and actually spending time with people.”

Both emphasised that the moments outside of work were just as valuable as those in the office.

What did a typical day look like?

Due to the time difference, both Glenn and Caleb had early starts to overlap with the UK.

Glenn described his routine:

“I was probably in the office around 7:00–7:30 am. There was a lot of work to get through, but it was important to make time to connect with people as well.”

Caleb had a similar experience:

“Waking up very early… getting into the office early and trying to make the most of the day.”

He also noted how accessible everything felt:

“It’s a smaller city, easier to get around… my hotel was about a five-minute walk from the office.”

How did you spend your time outside of work?

Both made the most of their time in San Diego in different ways.

Glenn balanced activity and downtime:

“I tactically chose it for the marathon.”
 “San Diego is such a great city for wandering… evenings were just grabbing a book, going for a walk - it was a welcome break from the chaos of London life.”

Caleb used his time to explore further afield:

• Visiting La Jolla Cove and seeing sea lions

• Taking a day trip on the train to Los Angeles

• Exploring Santa Monica and Griffith Observatory

“My day off consisted of a day trip to L.A. - I wanted to make the most of being out there.”

What were your overall impressions of San Diego?

Both described San Diego as a refreshing contrast to London.

Caleb highlighted the cultural differences:

“There’s definitely more of a culture there of finishing earlier and then doing things after work compared to London.”

He also compared it to nearby Los Angeles:

“L.A. is fun, but San Diego felt more relaxed, more affordable, and just easier.”

And of course, there were some standout local perks:

“Also… burritos. Being close to Mexico - I had a lot of those.”

What did you learn from the experience?

For Glenn, the biggest takeaways were both professional and personal:

“You learn a lot by visiting other offices… you understand how people actually work and adapt your communication style.”

“It reminded me how important it is to take time for yourself and not feel guilty about it.”

Caleb reinforced the importance of making the most of the opportunity:

“Make the most of it - explore the city, connect with people, don’t just treat it as work.”

Would you recommend San Diego as a Meet Passport destination?

Both Glenn and Caleb spoke very positively about their experience and would encourage others to take advantage of the opportunity when they reach their 4 year anniversary. 

Glenn summed it up:

“Overall, it was a really positive experience… I’d definitely recommend making the most of opportunities like this.”

And Caleb reinforced the purpose behind it:

“It’s about getting a real experience - not just sitting in an office somewhere else.”
