In this role, you will oversee alliance and program management for research and early-stage development. You will serve as the strategic partner for external research alliances, ensuring collaboration aligns with scientific and business goals. Your influence will extend internally as you lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless progression of preclinical programs from discovery to early development, supporting their pipeline ambitions. This role is primarily on-site, requiring close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to accelerate progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage external research alliances, acting as the primary relationship owner.
  • Establish and oversee governance structures, such as joint research committees and steering groups.
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting alliance health and productivity.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and business teams to support negotiations, amendments, and milestone evaluations.
  • Monitor alliance performance and communicate updates to senior leadership.
  • Develop best practices for alliance management, supporting a growing portfolio.
  • Provide strategic leadership for research and early development programs, aligning cross-functional teams around common goals.
  • Create and maintain program plans, timelines, and risk management frameworks.
  • Drive portfolio reviews and resource prioritization.
  • Build and lead a high-performing alliance and program management team.
  • Represent the organization externally at industry forums and partner meetings.
  • Contribute to organizational strategy, culture, and operational effectiveness.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline preferred, with at least 15 years’ industry experience, including 5+ years in alliance or program management.
  • Extensive experience managing research-stage alliances or early-phase collaborations.
  • In-depth understanding of drug discovery and early development processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
  • Familiarity with clinical development milestones, risk management, and governance.

This role offers a base salary between $325,000 and $370,000, depending on experience.
