An industry-leading medical technology company based in San Diego county is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer to lead test development and characterization of new wearable health monitoring devices. This individual will work within the Mechanical R&D Engineering team supporting next-gen product development.
The engineering department is seeking a hands-on technical lead specialized in test development and characterization for high volume, electromechanical medical devices. This individual will develop and lead end-to-end test strategy from early development through product launch and drive characterization plans, performance testing, and data analysis. This role will require extensive experience developing test methods for characterizing product performance, including extensive experience developing test fixtures, procedures, metrology tools, and custom electromechanical test systems. This individual will mentor and coach a junior characterization engineering team on best testing practices and lead development of new testing capabilities for the future product portfolio.

Required Skills/Experience:
- BS/MS/PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 13+/8+ years of relevant medical device industry experience.
- Extensive test development and characterization experience of electromechanical medical devices, wearables, or biosensors.
- Full lifecycle medical device product development experience, from feasibility through V&V, design transfer and commercialization.
- Extensive experience developing test methods for characterizing product performance, including hands-on experience developing test fixtures, procedures, metrology tools, and custom electromechanical test systems.
- Demonstrated technical team leadership skills: excellent communication skills with senior leadership and team members, and experience coaching junior engineers.
- Experience with statistics, DOE techniques, data analysis methods and software.
