The opportunity (Role summary)

As Senior Director of Clinical Development, you will have a critical role in contributing to the clinical strategy for promising molecules in the late lead optimization stage. You’ll partner with global teams, providing clinical insights that influence development plans, regulatory interactions, and safety monitoring. The position is based on-site in the US, supporting close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless progress through clinical milestones.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design, oversight, and interpretation of global Phase 1–2a clinical programs, ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and contribute to cross-functional planning for emerging assets from discovery to development.
  • Partner with in-licensing, acquisition, or collaboration teams on transition strategies, providing vital clinical input.
  • Monitor emerging science, competitive landscapes, and evolving standards of care in relevant disease areas.
  • Drive safety monitoring, benefit-risk assessments, and prepare for regulatory discussions or meetings.
  • Influence global teams and external stakeholders through clear, strategic communication, fostering collaboration and alignment.

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive experience in designing and leading early to late-stage clinical programs in the biotech or pharma space.
  • Deep understanding of global regulatory pathways, including FDA, EMA, and PMDA expectations.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional, matrixed environments with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong scientific judgment, analytical skills, and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with combination drug-device development is a plus.

This role offers a base salary of $280,000–$370,000, depending on experience.
