Medical Director / Senior Medical Director – Clinical Development (Neuroscience)
Location: South San Francisco, CA (Onsite)
I'm partnering with a well-funded, research-driven biotechnology company that's advancing a pipeline of innovative therapies for serious diseases with significant unmet medical need. As the organization continues to expand its early clinical portfolio, they're looking to add a Medical Director or Senior Medical Director to help shape clinical strategy from translational research through early clinical development.
What You'll Do
- Lead clinical and translational strategy for early-stage neuroscience and neuropsychiatric programs.
- Partner closely with Discovery, Translational Medicine, Biomarkers, Clinical Operations, and Regulatory teams to advance novel therapeutic candidates.
- Design and oversee experimental medicine studies to establish proof-of-mechanism and proof-of-concept.
- Help translate preclinical findings into first-in-human and early clinical development strategies.
- Contribute to study protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, regulatory submissions, and other key development documents.
- Provide scientific and medical leadership across cross-functional development teams.
What They're Looking For
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with relevant clinical and drug development experience.
- 5+ years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or academic drug development.
- Experience supporting early clinical development, ideally spanning translational research through Phase I and/or Phase II studies.
- Background in neurology, neuropsychiatry, neurodegeneration, or other CNS therapeutic areas strongly preferred.
- Board certification or eligibility in Neurology (or a related specialty) is a plus.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and scientific leadership skills.
Why This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative biotechnology company with a strong scientific foundation and an innovative research platform. You'll play a key role in advancing novel therapies from translational science into early clinical development while working alongside a world-class multidisciplinary team.
