The opportunity (Role summary)

As the Director of Facilities & Engineering, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for maintaining, developing, and optimizing complex GMP manufacturing systems and infrastructure. Your work will ensure seamless factory operations, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of new projects and technological upgrades. You’ll collaborate across departments like Quality, Manufacturing, and Process Development to ensure operational readiness and support business growth. This is an on-site role, requiring occasional travel to ensure project success and operational support.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for facilities, engineering, maintenance, automation, and IT functions to ensure operational reliability and compliance.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, calibration, qualification, validation, and documentation programs supporting GMP manufacturing.
  • Lead commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for new equipment, facilities, and infrastructure modifications.
  • Manage automation and computerized systems, including upgrades, cybersecurity, data integrity, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production readiness and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with external vendors and contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality project execution.
  • Lead efforts to sustain a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee budgets, capital projects, and resource planning aligned with organizational goals.
  • Mentor and develop teams across Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, Metrology, CQV, Automation, and IT.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment within biotech, pharma, or a similar sector.
  • Proven track record managing facilities, automation, and engineering functions in a complex operational setting.
  • Strong expertise in cGMP, validation, data integrity, automation systems, and infrastructure management.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Adept at project management, budget oversight, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
