The opportunity (Role summary)
This Director-level role offers the opportunity to lead innovation in diagnostic technology development for oncology applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including research, clinical development, and data sciences—to develop and apply cutting-edge models, biomarkers, and analytical approaches. The role is on-site, with an emphasis on hands-on leadership in a collaborative environment, driving translational research that advances both understanding and treatment of cancer.
Key responsibilities
- Lead innovation in emerging diagnostic technologies, including advanced imaging, multi-modal biomarkers, and computational pathology.
- Manage development and application of oncology foundational models and AI/ML approaches to high-dimensional datasets such as single-cell transcriptomics, spatial omics, and proteomics.
- Partner with clinical and research teams to enable biomarker discovery, diagnostic development, and clinical strategy.
- Drive cross-functional collaborations to translate biomarker and diagnostic insights into impactful clinical applications.
- Ensure integration of cutting-edge scientific approaches to support patient stratification and therapy optimization, particularly concerning antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).
- Analyze clinical trial biomarker data to inform translational medicine and development pathways.
What you’ll bring
- PhD or equivalent experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, or related fields.
- 7+ years’ applied experience in pharma, biotech, or academic research focused on oncology diagnostics or biomarker analysis.
- Strong expertise in AI/ML tools, bioinformatics databases, and high-dimensional data interpretation.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
- Experience with emerging diagnostic platforms and translational research.
- (Preferred) Oncology clinical development experience and proficiency in coding languages such as R and Python.
Compensation & benefits
This role offers a salary range of GBP 190,000 to GBP 270,000, depending on experience.
