Our client is a mission-driven startup redefining how personalized mental health support is delivered at scale. Founded in 2022, they've grown to support over 20,000 young people across the US through a unique approach that combines AI with human-led coaching — delivering measurable improvements in mental health, academic performance and wellbeing. Backed by leading institutions and recognized by major national press, they're a small, fully remote team doing work that genuinely matters.

Hands-on AI engineering role focused on building, evaluating and improving the agent systems that power the product and internal operations. You'll blend experimentation, analysis and building in a fast moving environment — translating product and operational needs into working AI systems that get better over time.

What You'll Work On

Agent Systems Design, build and improve agent-based AI systems for internal workflows. Implement memory, feedback and workflow systems that help AI performance compound over time.

Evaluation and Benchmarking Develop internal tooling and infrastructure for evaluating AI system quality and performance. Build frameworks to benchmark models, vendors and system configurations to inform product decisions.

Experimentation and Improvement Improve the quality, reliability and effectiveness of agents through structured experimentation and testing. Contribute to the codebase to implement and iterate on AI systems and tools.

Cross-Functional Partnership Work closely with product and operations to translate real needs into automated processes. Connect the dots between models, prompts, data, tools and product workflows.

What You Bring

  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Experience building with agents, LLMs or related AI applications
  • Comfort working with conversational datasets and unstructured data
  • Familiarity with GitHub and modern software engineering workflows
  • Ability to take loosely defined problems and turn them into working implementations
  • A track record of shipping — in industry, research or strong side projects
