POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Global Head of Medical Affairs is responsible for providing the strategic direction and business management for the global Medical Affairs and Medical Writing & Editing teams and operations. This role is accountable for ensuring the broader Clinical Development team is providing high quality operational delivery, provides expert guidance to clients on the design and implementation of clinical development programs, and supports the effectiveness of the Business Development team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the operations and personnel of the global Medical Affairs team ensure that a clear business direction is given and that team is meeting and exceeding business objectives
  • Advise both internal and external stakeholders on all relevant scientific/medical aspects of Premier Research projects, clinical development strategies, protocol development, study design, investigator brochure development, and regulatory planning, strategy and submission
  • Liaise and identify suitable key opinion leaders via professional network or feasibility assessment.
  • Review documents produced by Medical Writing Department and provide feedback and comments as needed.
·        Enhance the value and recognition of Premier Research through communication of scientific and medical information to relevant external stakeholders, current and future opinion and educational leaders, policy-makers/payers and thought leaders
·        Represent Premier at bid defenses, investigator meetings, advisory boards, external congresses, meetings, panels, round tables, symposia, etc.
·        Identify opportunities for clinical research (both company-sponsored and investigator-sponsored) that are consistent with company objectives
·        Ability to perform overnight business travel, up to 20%
·        Any other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree of Medicine or other advanced scientific degree
  • 7+ years leadership of scientific teams
  • 12+ years Clinical Research experience
  • 10+ years managing teams
  • Previous experience working with global biotech, specialty pharma, or small pharma is an advantage.
  • Expert level of knowledge in the main field of interest and/or assigned therapeutic area, together with a thorough working knowledge in pharmaceutical medicine or medical device fields, clinical development, GCP and regulations pertinent to clinical research  
  • Good business acumen within the CRO and drug development environment
  • Ability to learn and capacity to make decisions/recommendations despite ambiguity
  • Able to review, evaluate, interpret and present complex data
  • Has a consultative communication and collaboration approach with the team and the customer
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal); as well as public speaking
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of diverse and international teams
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and to meet the deadline in a fast-paced working environment
  • Maintains a positive, results orientated work environment
  • Customer service focused in approach to work both internally and externally
·        Fluency in English is essential and working knowledge of a second language is preferable
