We are partnering with a well-established international medical technology company based in Berlin that develops innovative devices for the treatment of serious medical conditions. The company operates globally with customers across Europe, the US, and Asia and is known for its strong engineering culture and long-term product development focus.
They are now looking to appoint an experienced R&D Team Leader to lead the design and development of invasive medical devices used in clinical treatment settings.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position, combining people management, product development, and regulatory ownership.
The successful candidate will:
Lead a team of engineers responsible for the design and development of medical device components and systems.
Take ownership of technical delivery, ensuring project timelines and development milestones are met.
Define and develop design requirements in close collaboration with Product Management and Clinical teams.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation including Design History Files (DHF) and Design Master Records (DMR).
Act as a technical lead for EU MDR submissions and regulatory interactions related to product development.
Manage assigned projects including planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
Support complaint investigations, change control and risk management activities.
Select and technically manage suppliers and manufacturing partners.
Promote a culture of engineering excellence, compliance and continuous improvement.
You will be a strong technical leader with hands-on experience working in regulated medical device environments.
Key requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar technical field.
Proven experience in medical device development, ideally with Class IIb or Class III products.
Direct involvement in EU MDR submissions.
Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
Strong CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor).
Structured, analytical working style with strong problem-solving capability.
Confident communicator in English (German is a benefit but not essential).
Work on meaningful technology that directly impacts patient outcomes.
