Summary:
A growing healthtech organization is looking for a Maintenance Software Engineer to join their engineering team and help support a complex data platform used to connect systems across the healthcare landscape. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on debugging production issues, improving legacy services, and steadily modernizing infrastructure. You’ll work on backend systems that power mission-critical integrations, using AI-assisted development tools to move faster and smarter. The team values curiosity, adaptability, and thoughtful engineering practices grounded in security and compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in backend services that handle high-volume healthcare data
  • Make incremental improvements to backend APIs, service architecture, and system integrations
  • Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to accelerate understanding and development tasks
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure system reliability, observability, and cloud performance
  • Maintain internal technical documentation and participate in process improvement around support workflows
  • Contribute to security and compliance efforts in line with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and SOC 2
  • Work in a structured Agile environment, participating in team planning and iterative delivery.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in software development, with a focus on backend systems
  • Strong command of at least one statically typed language such as C#, Java, or Go
  • Practical experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure, preferably within AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, S3)
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with source control systems and branching strategies using GitHub
  • Comfortable working in Linux or Windows server environments
  • Experience writing secure code and an understanding of core authentication and encryption practices (OAuth, SAML, etc.)
  • Exposure to healthcare data exchange formats like HL7 v2 or FHIR is beneficial
  • Familiarity with modern development workflows including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and Agile practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to work across unfamiliar systems or technologies
