Meet Life Sciences is thrilled to be partnered with a top client of ours, a full-service, privately held Healthcare Communications agency with a specialism in the Rare Disease space, looking to grow their leadership team in the form of a Group Creative Director, Art.
The Group Creative Director, Art serves as a senior creative leader, driving the strategic and visual direction of high-impact pharmaceutical marketing campaigns. This role goes beyond creative execution—leading multidisciplinary teams, shaping brand narratives, and delivering innovative, insight-driven solutions that meet both client goals and regulatory standards. With a deep understanding of the healthcare space, the GCD translates complex scientific data into compelling visual storytelling for HCP and patient audiences. They partner closely with clients, guide business development initiatives, and mentor creative talent—ensuring creative excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and consistent delivery of results across all channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative & Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development of bold, compelling creative ideas that are strategically sound and deliver measurable impact for clients across HCP, DTC and patient audiences
- Translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear, engaging, and innovative visual stories
- Guide cross-functional teams in concepting and executing brand experiences across channels—including print, digital, social, and experiential
- Partner with strategy, medical, and account leads to shape the creative vision and deliverables for campaigns and new business efforts
- Present creative work with clarity and persuasion to internal stakeholders and clients, aligning creative rationale with brand objectives
- Serve as a “player-coach,” actively participating in creative development while mentoring team members
- Leverage data, performance metrics, and customer insights to drive creative optimization and effectiveness
- Ensure all creative output meets regulatory, medical, and legal standards (FDA/OPDP compliance)
Team Management & Collaboration
- Lead and inspire a team of Art Directors, Designers, and freelance talent—setting the standard for creative excellence and innovation
- Provide regular coaching and feedback to nurture talent and ensure team development
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to define scopes, timelines, and budgets
- Manage project workflows, resource allocation, and staffing needs, including building and maintaining a trusted freelance bench
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative culture that fosters creativity, transparency, and shared success
Client & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, becoming a trusted strategic partner
- Lead or support new business pitches by developing and presenting creative strategies and ideas that drive growth
- Identify opportunities to expand business organically through creative innovation and relationship building
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of pharmaceutical advertising agency experience, with a strong art direction and conceptual background
- Significant experience in DTC, Patient and HCP workstreams
- Proven success in leading creative teams and managing senior-level client relationships
- Track record of award-winning or performance-driven creative campaigns
- Deep understanding of branding, storytelling, and multichannel marketing
- High-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud; knowledge of design tools like Figma or Sketch a plus
- Working knowledge of UX/UI principles and digital development processes
- Ability to present to and influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally
- Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
