Our client is a strategic medical communications agency rooted in deep scientific expertise and laser-focused on oncology and hematology. With a mission to bring clarity to complex science, they partner with leading biopharma and biotech companies to deliver impactful communications across medical affairs, commercial strategy, and HCP engagement.

They're seeking an Associate Scientific Director (ASD) who thrives at the intersection of science and storytelling—someone who can lead the development of compelling content, guide strategic direction, and mentor writers, all while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and clients.

If you’re ready to step into a more strategic role while still staying close to content, this is an exceptional opportunity to grow with a nimble, smart, and purpose-driven team.

Responsibilities:
Scientific Content Leadership
  • Lead the development of scientifically robust, high-quality medical and commercial content across a variety of deliverables—slide decks, lexicons, scientific narratives, symposia materials, ad boards, training modules, and more
  • Translate complex data into clear, engaging communications for HCPs, internal teams, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure all materials meet industry standards, compliance regulations, and client objectives
  • Review, edit, and elevate work produced by medical writers and freelancers to ensure quality and consistency
Client & Thought Leader Engagement
  • Act as a trusted scientific partner to clients, KOLs, and internal stakeholders
  • Attend and lead client meetings, providing clear scientific insight and strategic recommendations
  • Interpret client feedback and align scientific content with brand and business goals
  • Provide onsite or virtual support for advisory boards, symposia, and internal client workshops
Strategic & Scientific Oversight
  • Work with account leads and creative partners to ensure content aligns with broader strategic and creative direction
  • Contribute to strategic planning sessions and help shape messaging frameworks and scientific narratives
  • Identify content gaps and proactively suggest new ideas or solutions that enhance value for clients
Team Mentorship & Internal Collaboration
  • Mentor and guide junior writers, offering training, coaching, and developmental feedback
  • Collaborate closely with client services, creative, and project management to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support resource planning and help anticipate upcoming content needs across accounts

Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years' experience in a medical communications agency, ideally in oncology, hematology, or related therapeutic areas
  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent life sciences degree strongly preferred
  • A strong track record of delivering high-quality, scientifically accurate, and commercially relevant content
  • Ability to lead client-facing discussions on scientific and strategic matters
  • Experience mentoring or managing writers and collaborating across teams
  • Familiarity with promotional and medical affairs deliverables
  • Confident, clear communicator who can think creatively and strategically
