As an Automation Engineer specializing in hardware, instrumentation, and controls, you will be instrumental in supporting the automation infrastructure at this new facility. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain reliable control systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and quality of manufacturing processes, supporting the site's successful startup and ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support automation hardware and instrumentation for process control systems.
  • Develop functional requirements and process control strategies in collaboration with system administrators.
  • Support and troubleshoot control loops, devices, and hardware to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee validation activities to maintain the integrity of control systems in line with quality standards.
  • Support automation components of capital projects and new product introductions.
  • Mentor and guide technical teams, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Participate in design reviews, FATs, and commissioning to ensure robust system performance.
  • Implement systems and solutions to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Promote innovative automation solutions to support GMP manufacturing goals.
  • Provide on-site support and rotate with teams to ensure continuous operation.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in automation engineering within the biopharma or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Hands-on experience with control hardware, instrumentation, and systems such as SCADA, DCS, or BMS.
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations and validation procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

Salary

This role offers a competitive base salary of up to £120,000, depending on experience, along with potential benefits.
